Simon Butterworth has worked within law enforcement intelligence and analysis for over 30 years at National, Regional, Force and Community levels, as a highly-experienced intelligence analyst. He has held roles as a Senior Analyst for; National Counter Terrorism, North West Counter Terrorism Unit and as a Major Crime Analyst within Greater Manchester Police.
His work included supporting major investigations and intelligence cells relating to Organised Crime, Murder, Serious Crime Major Sporting Events and Professional Standards working with partners at governmental, national security and local partnership agencies conducting analysis at operational, tactical and strategic levels.
He was a key member of the Professional Heads of Intelligence Analysis (PHIA) and National Analyst Working Group (NAWG) developing and enhancing the analytical capability of the United Kingdom and was involved in the development and delivery of the UK’s CONTEST Strategy in dealing with terrorist threat, working with the Home Office, Security Services and Counter Terrorism Command Units. He has undertaken strategic reviews of national and regional CT functions and identified areas of best practice and learning aiding the development of inter-operability.
Since leaving law enforcement in 2016 he has been designing and delivering intelligence related training globally as a Consultant and now leads in this area for the company.
