Ashley Barrow is a member of the chartered society of forensic scientists. He worked for the Metropolitan Police as a Scenes of Crime and Identification Officer for 16 years, including three years on specialist operations with the Flying Squad. He then moved to Thames Valley Police as a Senior Scenes of Crime Officer and then on to Bedfordshire Police as the Head of Scenes of Crime.
In 2006 an opportunity to work in the International market arose and Ashley took on a Training and Mentoring Role as an International Police Advisor at the Iraqi Police College, followed by a Senior Lecturer and Forensic Advisor position at the Special Anti-Crime Unit of Trinidad and Tobago.
On Ashley’s return to the UK he was the Operations Manager for the Crime Scene Investigations Unit in Nottinghamshire Police and then Principal Forensic Investigator (crime scene) for West Mercia Police.
In 2013 Ashley took up the International challenge again and became the Detective Inspector Head of Forensics for the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force in the British Virgin Islands. He was also the Chairman of the UK Caribbean Overseas Territories Forensic Working Group, raising investigative capability and competency in Anguilla, Montserrat, Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Turks and Caicos and the British Virgin Islands.
Ashley returned to the UK and now works as a consultant trading as AB Forensics. He is an EU Twinning project subject matter expert, a module leader at Canterbury Christ Church University, a sessional lecturer at Worcester University, an International Crime Scene Investigators Association (ICSIA) training board member and a competency assessor for the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences.
